UNIDROIT undertakes consultations with Washington-based institutions

On 18 and 19 February 2025, a UNIDROIT delegation travelled to Washington, D.C. to undertake consultations with a number of intergovernmental organisations, international financial institutions and nongovernmental organisations. During the mission, UNIDROIT Secretary-General Prof. Ignacio Tirado, Deputy Secretary-General Prof. Anna Veneziano and Senior Legal Officer Mr William Brydie-Watson visited the Chamber of Commerce, the International Law Institute, the International Monetary Fund, the Organization of American States and the World Bank. These consultations allowed the UNIDROIT delegation to discuss cooperation in relation to (i) UNIDROIT’s current legislative programme, (ii) the implementation of existing UNIDROIT instruments and (iii) potential future projects for the 2026-2028 UNIDROIT Triennial Work Programme, with a particular focus on UNIDROIT instruments in the fields of Access to Credit, Capital Markets and Sustainable Development. The visits also allowed UNIDROIT to discuss possible institutional initiatives to further strengthen coordination.
