Between 4 – 5 October 2022, the Joint Network for Coordinating and Supporting Secured Transactions Reforms held the 5th International Coordination of Secured Transactions Reform Conference at the UNIDROIT Headquarters in Rome, Italy. The 5th Coordination Conference was hosted by UNIDROIT in its capacity as the 2022 Chair of the Joint Network.
Over two days, 40 panellists and 70 experts participating both in-person and virtually discussed a variety of issues associated with the coordination of secured transactions reform, including the coordination of new instruments with the existing legal secured transactions framework; coordination between legislative organisations; private sector associations and regulatory agencies; financial inclusion; and access to credit in the agricultural sector. Discussions regarding new instruments focused on the ongoing work on the UNIDROIT Model Law on Factoring, the UNCITRAL-UNIDROIT Model Law on Warehouse Receipts; the UNIDROIT Principles on Digital Assets and Private Law; the UNIDROIT project on Best Practices for Effective Enforcement and the UNCITRAL text on Access to Credit for MSMEs.
