On 29 October 2024, the 14th Jurist Conference in Seoul, organised by the Korean Society of Law, sponsored by the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court, the Ministry of Justice, the Korean Bar Association, and the Korean Law Professors Association, and held at the Korea University, hosted an afternoon on UNIDROIT and its instruments.
In this context, UNIDROIT Secretary-General Professor Ignacio Tirado was invited to provide a keynote speech, introduced by Professor Byung Jun Lee, to provide attendees with a comprehensive overview of UNIDROIT’s Work Programme and working methods. Deputy Secretary General Professor Anna Veneziano was invited to present on the 30 Years of the UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts, in a panel of esteemed debaters moderated by Professor Emeritus Gwanghyeon Seok (Seoul National University), including UNIDROIT Governing Council member Professor In-ho Kim (Ehwa Women’s University), Professor Ji Wenhua (UIBE, China) , Professor Hee-seok Seo (Pusan National University) and Professor Se-joon Kim (Sungshin Women’s University).
The Conference also featured a panel on UNIDROIT Principles of Digital Assets and Private Law presented by UNIDROIT Governing Council member Professor Hideki Kanda, moderated by Professor Sang-joong Kim (Korea University), and debated by Professor Hyun-soo Kim (Pusan National University), Professor Ji-hye Shin (Hankuk University of Foreign Studies), Judge Seong-min Hwang (Seoul Bankruptcy Court), Prosecutor Soo-min Seok (Ministry of Justice Legal Review Office), and Center Director Hae-bong Lee (Upbit Investor Protection Center).
