On 17 December 2020, the 79th session of the General Assembly of UNIDROIT was held at the seat of the Institute in Rome and virtually via Zoom.
A Member of the UNIDROIT Governing Council, Professor Jorge Antonio Sánchez Cordero Dávila from Mexico was elected Chairperson of the General Assembly 2020-2021. The General Assembly approved amendments to the UNIDROIT Work Programme for the 2020-2022 Triennium and took note of the Statement regarding the Organisation’s activity in 2020. The Assembly also took note of the report of the Chairman of the Finance Committee, and approved the final modifications to the Budget and the Accounts of the 2019 financial year. It also approved the adjustments to the Budget for 2020, took note of the arrears in contributions from Member States, and adopted the draft Budget for 2021. Additionally, the Assembly also took note of the progress in the implementation of the compensation and social security package offered to UNIDROIT staff, and also took note of the measures taken by the UNIDROIT Secretariat in relation to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
