The International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the School of Law of the Universidad Austral Buenos Aires. This agreement was formalised on 15 October 2024 during a Congress held in Asunción, Paraguay, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the UNIDROIT Principles on International Commercial Contracts. Professor Ignacio Tirado, Secretary-General of UNIDROIT, alongside Juan Ignacio Stampalija and Julio César Rivera (h), Directors of the LL.M. Programme in Arbitration, Litigation, and International Contracts at Universidad Austral, took part in the signing ceremony.
The Memorandum of Understanding establishes a framework for close collaboration between the two institutions, with a focus on various academic initiatives such as courses, conferences, and research projects. In line with the agreement, UNIDROIT will contribute to the LL.M. Programme in Arbitration, Litigation, and International Contracts at Universidad Austral, a Programme that was launched in 2022. This collaboration will introduce a tailored “UNIDROIT Module” within the LL.M. Programme, led by prominent international experts and academics. Moreover, the Memorandum outlines a strengthened integration of UNIDROIT’s instruments and projects within the academic offerings of the School of Law at Universidad Austral.
