UNIDROIT RECEIVES A DELEGATION FROM MONGOLIA

On 2 May 2022, UNIDROIT received a delegation from Mongolia lead by the Vice-Minister of Justice and Home Affairs with other representatives of the Ministry, parliamentarians and the Director of the National Legal Institute of Mongolia. The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Ignacio Tirado (Secretary-General), Prof. Anna Veneziano (Deputy Secretary-General) and Ms Marina Schneider (Principal Legal Officer and Treaties Depositary). The fruitful meeting focused on Mongolia’s consideration of accession to UNIDROIT as a Member State and included presentations covering a number of UNIDROIT instruments such as the UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts 2016, the Cape Town Convention and its Protocols, the 1995 UNIDROIT Convention on Stolen or Illegally Exported Cultural Objects, the UNIDROIT/FAO/IFAD Legal Guide on Contract Farming and the UNIDROIT/IFAD Legal Guide on Agricultural Land Investment Contracts. A number of UNIDROIT’s high priority projects such as the Digital Assets and Private Law Project, and the Best Practices of Enforcement, and further opportunities for cooperation between Mongolia and the National Legal Institute of Mongolia and UNIDROIT were also discussed.
