LUXEMBOURG RAIL PROTOCOL TO THE CAPE TOWN CONVENTION – SIGNATURE BY SOUTH AFRICA

On 22 March 2022, South Africa, which is already a Party to the Cape Town Convention and the Aircraft Protocol, signed the Luxembourg Rail Protocol, which was adopted in February 2007 at a diplomatic Conference held in Luxembourg. The Luxembourg Rail Protocol will enter into force when the conditions set out in its Article XXIII(1) have been satisfied.

His Excellency, Mr Fikile Mbalula, Minister of Transport of South Africa, signed the Luxembourg Rail Protocol and Professor Ignacio Tirado expressed great appreciation as a first step towards the planned ratification of the Protocol by South Africa.
