How to become a Party to the
1995 UNIDROIT Convention on Stolen or Illegally Exported Cultural Objects

States can become parties to the 1995 UNIDROIT Convention on Stolen or Illegally Exported Cultural Objects by means of:

- ratification, acceptance or approval in the case of States that have signed the Convention before 30 June 1996 (cf. Article 11(2) of the Convention), or

- accession in the case of States that have not signed the Convention (cf. Article 11(3) of the Convention).

The Convention makes provision for certain formalities to be carried out at the time of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession.
